Using the Imacon Scanner

It's located in the room opposite the dungeon, with the UV scope.

• Log in
• Run FlexColour (sic)
• Place the Imacon magnetic negative holder onto the scanner (it's stored in the binder)
• Set an appropriate PPI (I set 1200dpi... this sets one 7cm = ~3354pixels)
• Line up negative in the magnetic holder
• Click 'Preview'.
• Choose area to scan, and click 'Scan'
• When finished, close the scanner, turn it off, and cover it with it's dust jacket.
• Then can use FTP (SSH secure file transfer: Windows > New file transfer)

Thus, at 1200dpi, for EM images, appropriate scale bar sizes would be:

• 50000x: 120px = 50nm
• 40000x: 96px = 50nm
• 20000x: 192px = 200nm
• 10000x: 96px = 200nm
