UCLA-DOE Fold Server
Comments (regarding website)
Welcome to the UCLA-DOE FOLD Server (Version 4.0, upgraded December 10th, 2002).
The former server was based upon a method known as Sequence Derived Properties (SDP) as
described by (Fischer and Eisenberg, 1997). The current server uses a several stage procedure to assign a structure to your sequence:
- BLAST is used to check for obviously homologous sequences within the PDB.
- If BLAST fails, iterative PSI-BLAST is employed.
- If BLAST and PSI-BLAST are unsucessful, then the PSI-BLAST results are fed to PSI-PRED for secondary structure prediction.
- The secondary structure prediction is used in conjunction with SDP.
- Finally, if SDP is unable to find a strong match, our new method, DASEY (Mallick, Weiss, Eisenberg, 2002), is used.
This procedure takes 30 - 60 minutes, depending on how full the queue is. If it does not terminate please let me know. Please resubmit any jobs you previously had resident on the server.
To use this server, you must create a login and password (free).
The results are stored on our server for 1 month.
